Ole Restoration

The attached photos show the damage to Ole caused by the collision with Harding Rock Buoy during the 2006 MMBA Regatta.

Photos show the stem and crack running back on the starboard side to the chain plates. The crack on the port side was a bit shorter.

The repairs included a new stem, new planking and toe rail P & S. Also included repairs to the mast, which experienced cracks to about 8 feet above the deck. Both sides and the back of the mast were replaced with new Sitka spruce to above the spinnaker track.

The hull was refastened below the waterline and then glassed. Note to owners: check some fasteners at the next haulout. At 46 years, ours were all but non-existant.

Jim Linderman rebuilt the mast, including improved blocking, and supervised the rest of the work at Bayside Boatworks in Sausalito. There was lots of other stuff done, but these were the big pieces.

In the last photo we're almost back together. As of January 2007 the mast is back in and it's just a matter of getting all the gear back abaord.
